  1. The service. Sortia is a Google Sheets add-on providing statistics, machine learning, optimization, simulation, and forecasting tools. It runs entirely within Google Sheets; see the Privacy Policy.
  2. License. You may use the add-on on any spreadsheet you have access to. Pro is licensed per person, or per seat on a Team or Company license, as described on the pricing page at the time you buy. You may not resell, sublicense, or misrepresent the add-on as your own. If a capability moves from the free plan into Pro, people who were already using Sortia keep it: what that covers, how we recognize you, and what to do if we do not, are set out in the Grandfathering Policy.
  3. No professional advice. The add-on performs calculations; it does not provide financial, statistical, medical, or legal advice. Analytical results depend on your inputs, model assumptions, and tool settings, so validate them before making decisions with real-world consequences.
  4. Warranty disclaimer. THE ADD-ON IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. While the computational engines are extensively tested, no software is guaranteed error-free.
  5. Limitation of liability. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE AUTHOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM USE OF THE ADD-ON. Total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the add-on in the twelve months preceding the claim.
  6. Acceptable use. Don't use the add-on to violate law, Google's Terms of Service, or the Google Workspace Marketplace™ program policies.
  7. Plans and billing. Sortia is free to install and use, with a Pro tier sold as a monthly or annual subscription, and a one-off Day Pass. Current prices are shown at sortia.io/pricing. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Prices may change, and we will give at least 30 days notice before a change affects an existing subscription.
  8. Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or annual, at the price you are paying, until you cancel. The Day Pass does not renew. Your first license key is issued for a short initial period, and renewals cover a full billing period, refreshed while your subscription is active.
  9. Cancelling. You may cancel at any time by emailing support@sortia.io, or through the subscription management link in your Stripe receipt. Cancellation stops future charges. It is not retroactive: you keep Pro for the period you have already paid for, and because license keys are issued per period, your key stays valid until the date printed on it, which may fall slightly after your last billing date. When it expires, Sortia returns to the free plan and your spreadsheets and data are untouched.
  10. Refunds. If Pro is not right for you, email within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it in full, no questions asked. Day Passes are delivered as a license key immediately on purchase and are not refundable once the key is issued. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under the law where you live, including statutory cancellation rights for consumers in the EU and UK.
  11. Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it for a short period. License keys carry a grace buffer past the billing date so a temporary payment problem does not cut off access. If payment ultimately fails, the subscription ends and the key expires normally.
  12. Ownership. Sortia, its source code, design, and name are owned by Ben Malott and are not transferred to you. Your spreadsheets, models, inputs, and results are entirely yours; we claim no rights over anything you create with the add-on.
  13. Published links. Sortia can publish a result you choose as a read-only page at sortia.io/r/. You are responsible for what a link you publish contains; Sortia hosts it. A published link stays up for one year unless you remove it sooner from the add-on, and anyone with the link can read it without an account. Every published page carries a "Report this link" address, and reported links are reviewed by hand and removed when they break these terms or the law.
  14. Suspension and termination. We may suspend or end access if the add-on is used unlawfully, to abuse the service or its infrastructure, or in breach of these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so we will contact you first. If we end your access without cause, we will refund the unused portion of your current period.
  15. Your responsibility for use. You agree to cover claims brought against us by a third party that arise from your unlawful use of the add-on or your breach of these terms. This does not apply to claims caused by our own acts.
  16. Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws in your country of residence.
  17. Age. Sortia is not directed at children. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13, to use it.
  18. The rest. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to a successor if Sortia is acquired. Together with the Privacy Policy, these terms are the entire agreement between us about the add-on.
  19. Changes. These terms may be updated; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted in the listing.
